Services that offer to search for suspected fraud using your identity go by many names. These Database Monitoring services generally claim to scan public records, and other databases or Internet chat rooms and similar places where stolen identities are traded. Regardless of what is being monitored, these services do not include any proactive prevention component or restoration component unless they are bundled with these services. Moreover, they do not usually monitor the most important databases such as government records, banking or credit files.

4. Most subscribers become "fatigued" with the high number of false alarms due to warnings that are not really problems and soon ignore alerts completely further reducing database monitoring's already low value.
5. The quality of information services designed to protect you varies greatly by provider and typically is not known at the time of purchase.
